1. Deep Relaxation: Infrared saunas can provide a deep sense of relaxation, which complements massage therapy. They help in loosening muscles and increasing flexibility, making them more receptive to massage.
2. Detoxification: Infrared saunas are known for their ability to help the body detoxify, releasing toxins through sweat. This can enhance the body’s overall wellness, which is a key goal of massage therapy.
3. Pain Relief: They can help alleviate pain, including chronic pain, by improving circulation and reducing inflammation. This is particularly beneficial for clients seeking massage therapy for pain management.
4. Improved Circulation: The heat from an infrared sauna can stimulate blood flow, similar to the effects of a massage. This increased circulation can help with healing and recovery.
5. Stress Reduction: Both massage therapy and infrared sauna use can significantly reduce stress and anxiety, providing a holistic approach to mental well-being.
6. Skin Benefits: The sweating and improved circulation from an infrared sauna can help clear pores and improve skin health, which is a nice complement to the glow often experienced after a massage.
7. Weight Loss and Metabolism Boost: While not a substitute for exercise, infrared saunas can increase heart rate and metabolic rate, potentially aiding in weight loss.
8. Immune System Support: Regular use of an infrared sauna might help bolster the immune system, partly by raising the body’s core temperature, which can simulate a fever-like state, helping the body fight off germs.
9. Better Sleep: Many clients report better sleep after using an infrared sauna, likely due to its relaxing and stress-reducing effects.

Hi, we're the Mosses (David and Brandi), the owners of Massage and Bodywork of Athens. We have over 20 years of clinical massage experience between us, and opened our business together in October of 2017. Our focus is deep tissue massage for pain relief, increased mobility and deep relaxation... also known as medical massage. We treat clients with chronic pain conditions as well as those with recent injuries... from everyday aches and pains, to post-surgical recovery, we've got you covered! We absolutely love the business we've built, and are completely invested in our clients' well-being. We genuinely love what we do, and we look forward to helping you live better through our unique brand of massage therapy. See you soon!
I became interested in massage after the birth of my first child. Following a complicated pregnancy and birth, I needed to approach my recovery from a holistic perspective , and massage therapy treatments were so beneficial to me that I knew I wanted to help people heal the way that I had been helped. I made that dream a reality and enrolled at the Atlanta School of Massage in 2015. I've been practicing professionally since 2017 and I've loved every minute of it. My areas of focus are injury rehabilitation and chronic pain management.
Gretchen has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2016. She graduated Massage School with a certification in Neuromuscular Therapy. She became certified in Thai Massage and Medical Massage a few years after school. Her curiosity for learning how to release pain patterns in the body led her to complete a two-year training in trigger point therapy through Coaching the Body Institute. She loves being able to bring clients out of pain and to educate them in how to use their bodies more efficiently to avoid living in pain and lead healthier lives through improved mobility.
She is a wife and mother to four children. She is an amateur cellist. She enjoys hiking and camping with her family and martial arts. She spent a decade in the Philippines, where she was first introduced to massage, and first had the idea of one day becoming a massage therapist to be able to share the beautiful gift of bodywork with others.
Our pricing is up front and highly competitive. We don't believe in luring clients with introductory pricing or memberships, and there's nothing to upsell. All we do is therapeutic and deep tissue work. We like to think of ourselves as the antithesis of a spa!
Custom treatments tailored to your unique issues at every appointment. We will listen and assess your needs so you get the perfect massage you'll love, every time!

By appointment only
Cancellation Policy
We understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In our desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:
24 hour advance notice is required when cancelling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment. If you are unable to give us 24 hours advance notice you will be charged the full amount of your appointment on the credit card we have on file.
No-shows
Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged for their “missed” appointment on the credit card we have on file.
Late Arrivals
If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, your therapist will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other customers, please plan accordingly and be on time.
